Dance Troupe Challenge : DTI
Dance Idols 2011-2012

Stacie DawsonStacie Dawson: My name is Stacie Dawson, and wow, it is such an honor to be chosen as a Dance Idol and Call Back Challenge winner for this year! I set Dance Idol as a personal goal for myself before the competition, and with the help of my wonderful parents, dance teachers, fellow dancers and the DTI teachers and staff, that goal became my reality. Dance has brought so much joy to my life and I am looking forward to sharing that joy with others throughout the country. Dance has carried me through battles with Crohn’s Disease and I hope to use dance to reach out to others with life changing diseases. Dance is not only a passion for me, but it is a way of life. I have performed with the A Step of Class Dance Company, Heritage Dance Foundation, various pageants and local events. I plan on continuing a career as a performer and dance teacher and one day I hope to reach my next goal of traveling with a contemporary dance company across the US! I thank everyone once again who has been an influence on my dance journey, it’s just the beginning!

Montana DaltonMontana Dalton: I have been dancing since I was three years old and one day hope to become a professional dancer/performer in New York. Being able to perform is the most amazing feeling and I always look forward to being on a stage! I currently attend a performing arts school in Florida. Not only do I love dance, but I love acting as well. Over the past few years you may have seen me in a number of commercials/shows such as SeaWorld, St. Augustine's Alligator Farm, Kanani Applesauce Safety Video, America's Most Wanted, First Coast Nutcracker (Jack in the Box, Core Chinese, Bon Bon), Jaguars Half Time Show Performer, Alhambra Dinner Show (Wizard of Oz) and Jacksonville's Art Walk Shows. Things I love do are: dance (all styles), acrobatics, rhythmic gymnastics, singing, acting, skiing, surfing, snorkeling, wakeboarding, swimming, traveling, making videos, bike riding, hiking and hanging out with all of my friends every chance I get! I would like to thank all of the teachers and choreographers who have helped me to grow into the person I am today!
Anna MeyerAnna Meyer: My name is Anna Meyer. I have been dancing for 14 years at A Step of Class. I have also performed in various pageants, talent shows, and conventions. I don’t know where I would be without dance as a part of my life. Dancing has gotten me through all the tough moments in my life. In the future I plan to earn a Bachelor’s degree as a Health Fitness Specialist, hopefully, with a double major in Dance Performance from East Carolina University. I also hope to join their tap ensemble and travel and compete with them. It is such an amazing honor to be a Dance Idol. I never would have imagined that I would earn such a great honor, but with the help of my dance teachers, friends, and the DTI staff this dream was made reality! Wherever life leads me, I hope that dancing is a part of it!
Marisa HeltonMarisa Helton: My name is Marisa Helton, as a past Star Title winner and Call Back Challenge winner I was thrilled to be chosen as a Dance Idol this year. It was the perfect way to cap off an exciting year. I will be attending Douglas Anderson School of the Arts in Jacksonville Florida in the fall where my arts area will be, of course, dance. Dancing has been part of me for my entire life. I started competing at the age of four and I have been very fortunate to win many titles and overall high score awards. I also love classical ballets, such as the First Coast Nutcracker, which I have been a part of for six years. It's an amazing feeling to perform a ballet that you love and to be accompanied by the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra. Dance has opened me up to so many new experiences. In the past two years I have had chances to dance at the Ronald McDonald House at Christmas time for patients and their families. Recently I performed and walked in the Walk For Lupus Now, a benefit for those with Lupus and for the families of those who have lost someone from Lupus. It makes me feel so blessed to be able to do something that I love and help people at the same time. I hope that I am always able to try to give back to dance because dance has given so much to me. Thank you Mrs. Hollingsworth and everyone at DTI for making me and everyone else feel so special and a special thanks to Ms. Debra Ford and Mrs. Kellie Landen of Debbies Dance Company for making me the dancer I am today. I love you both.
Madison HydeMadison Hyde: It was such an honor to be chosen as a Dance Idol this year! I have been dancing since I was three years old at Southern Strut Dance Center in Brunswick, GA. Dancing to me is expressing my mood and emotions in movement. Whenever I am stressed out, worried, sad, or happy, I dance and it seems like nothing else in the world matters. Being a Dance Idol and in the senior class at my dance studio, I hope I show my love for dance to everyone and I am someone people can look up to. Even though I only have three more years at my studio, I hope to continue dancing throughout college and for the rest of my life. Aside from dancing, I am a high school cheerleader. I am also very involved with my friends and my church. I am so thankful for the gift that God gave me. I am also thankful for my parents who have supported me with my dancing. I would be no where without them, my amazing dance teachers, and my inspirations. I'm just keep on dancing till I can't dance anymore! DANCE FOREVER!
